Louis Dreyfus Commodities Ethanol Plant

The grains side of this ethanol plant consists of two 74-foot-diameter by 150-foot-tall silos, each storing 500,000 bushels of corn.  Grain receiving is through a combination rail/truck receiving building with two driveways for truck receiving, one rail line with scale for rail receiving, and one rail line for rail loadout of distillers dried grain (DDG) product.  Grain is transferred with two 20,000-bushel-per-hour drag conveyors to two 20,000-bushel-per-hour receiving bucket elevators.  Grain is reclaimed to a 35-foot-diameter by 150-foot-tall cleaning and grinding silo.  This silo contains two rotary scalpers and four corn grinders.  Ground corn is transferred from this silo to the ethanol plant.

DDG product (a byproduct of the ethanol process) is elevated and conveyed from the ethanol plant to a 125-foot by 175-foot metal building for storage.  The DDG product is then transferred to two 55-foot by 124-foot-tall silos, holding approximately 4,500 tons each.  The DDG product is unloaded from the silos with Laidig unloaders, transferred to a bulk scale for weighing, and then transferred to the loadout building to be shipped out by rail or truck.
