This feed mill for Allen’s features 20,000-bushel-per-hour corn receiving; 240-ton-per-hour ingredient receiving; 50-ton-per-hour grinding system; 19 ingredient bins with 1,700 tons of storage; and a 9-ton batching and mixing system, including one 20-bin micro system, two major scales, and one minor scale.  The pellet mill is housed in a pelleting tower directly adjacent to the main mill tower to provide adequate operational and maintenance room for the pelleting system equipment.  The fats coating utilizes a continuous-flow-style system with a variable-speed pocket feeder and dry flow meter.  Screw conveyors with multiple discharges and distributors are used for pellet distribution.  Loadout utilizes a single driveway with a weigh lorry scale.  This feed mill has a total finished feed capacity of 1,300 tons.

Additional features to the feed mill include 1,000,000 bushels of grain storage in six silos and one interstice bin, a tank farm for three liquids, two 40 hp air compressors, and one 500 hp gas/oil-fired boiler.  One 1,000-pound manlift is used to provide vertical access from grade level to the roof.  One 6,000-pound capacity pallet lift moves micro ingredients from the warehouse to the work floor.  One 7,000-bushel-per-hour grain dryer allows for the purchase of local grain at harvest.

This mill was designed with future expansion planned for receiving, grinding, and pelleting.
