Younglove acted as the design-build general contractor for AIPC’s first satellite plant built at Columbia, South Carolina. The 90,000 square-foot facility includes semolina rail receiving, semolina storage, pasta press room, packaging room, and warehousing. Other areas of the plant include production support rooms, control room, MCC rooms, boiler room, maintenance shop, trash disposal, offices, and employee welfare areas. The facility is of precast concrete construction, with many of the support areas on the second floor mezzanine.
This is a state-of-the-art facility, including the best available sanitary design features. Cartons of packaged pasta are conveyed via an overhead bridge to an adjacent 80,000-square-foot distribution center for palletizing and storage prior to shipment.
