Glenbrook Nickel Dry Ore Storage Silo

Coos Bay, Oregon

This structure is part of a raw nickel import facility where nickel ore is received from ocean-going ships for sizing and drying. The processed ore is stored in this silo for transfer to trucks bound for an inland processing plant where nickel bars are produced. The silo has 22-inch-thick walls at the base which reduce to 12 inch at an overhead slab. The overhead slab is 9.5 feet thick with two support columns and two hoppers, allowing for simultaneous loadout to two trucks.
