Cargill Feed Mill Additions and Renovations

This project included a new slipform concrete tower, warehouse, loadout bins, and numerous renovations to the rooftop and interior of Cargill’s existing facility. The new slipform tower included bins for a new batching process and to feed an automatic packaging line. The new tower is located adjacent to the existing tower, and conveyors supported from bridges and towers convey ingredients and materials between the two.

Four additional bolted steel loadout bins were part of the scope, including structural steel to support them; and 18 new steel bins were added above the existing loadout driveway. A new pellet line and grinder were installed in the existing mill. All equipment to feed material to and from these added systems was also included.

Multiple distributors and new spouting were erected on the existing mill rooftop. A 12,000-square-foot pre-engineered metal building was erected adjacent to the new mill tower to store feed ingredients and bagged product.

A special challenge on this project was to keep the existing facility operational throughout the new and renovated construction work. All construction processes were completed while maintaining Cargill’s required production hours.
