Griggsville, Illinois

The new feed mill for The Maschhoffs in Griggsville, Illinois, is nearing completion and began start-up activities mid-May. In the last six months, the construction team has installed process equipment in the mill tower and surrounding mill structures. The Younglove crew worked a double shift on the project from the summer of 2009 until the first of the year, which has allowed start-up to commence before the original completion date—even with scope changes along the way.
The Maschhoffs feed mill has a 120-ton-per-hour receiving system and a 70-ton-per-hour grinding system. The batching system will be capable of producing 90 tons of mash feed per hour, and the pelleting system will be capable of producing 40 tons per hour. The mill has one complete pelleting line with downstream fat coating and room for a second pellet line. Loadout will consist of a fully automated, single 10-ton weigh lorry capable of loading three compartments on a truck trailer in one pass.
