Farmers Cooperative Grain Storage
Arcadia, Iowa
The new workhouse at Arcadia, Iowa, consisted of three 60-foot-diameter silos, one 18-foot loadout bin, and four interstice bins 140 foot high with 8-inch-thick slip walls. Grain receiving will be through a double truck driveway with 500-bushel hoppers and 10,000-bushel transfer conveyors to two 11,000-bushel receiving legs. Distribution to the bins will be through an 11,500-bushel cleaner to an electric double distributor spouted to each bin. Reclaim from the silos will be through side bin draw-offs to trucks, and clean-out will be through an equipment access opening at the bottom of the silos.
A drive-over flush floor aeration system rated at 1/10 cubic feet per minute per bushel was formed in each silo floor. Eleven heat detection cables per silo will allow continuous grain temperature read-outs.
