ADM Unit Train Unloading Facility

Columbus, Nebraska

This new unit rail receiving facility consists of four 40-foot-diameter by 135-foot-tall silos with one interstice bin and four 65-foot-diameter by 135-foot-tall silos with one interstice bin. Grain receiving will be through a tandem rail receiving building through a 10-foot by 66-foot dump-through rail scale and 4-foot by 44-foot rail dump grate. Grain is transferred with two 20,000-bushel-per-hour drag conveyors to a 40,000-bushel-per-hour JetBelt™ conveyor and then to two 20,000-bushel-per-hour receiving bucket elevators. Distribution to the silos is through a dual swing-flow distributor to the workhouse or transferred to long-term storage with a 40,000-bushel-per-hour JetBelt™ through a round revolving valve. Grain is reclaimed through one 20,000 bushel-per-hour JetBelt™ and then transferred to the existing processing facility through one 20,000-bushel-per-hour JetBelt™, which can be reversed in operation. Silo bin bottoms are designed for clean-out with Kanal Systems® and will also provide for 1/10 cfm per bushel aeration. A complete dust system and dust filter pick-ups have been provided for all equipment, and a Dustmaster dust control system has been provided at the receiving pits. Heat detection cables provided in the long-term storage silos will allow continuous grain temperature readouts.
